Welcome to the most Italian of all French ski areas! La Rosière offers a unique experience, since 1984 it has been united with the neighboring Italian ski resort La Thuile in the Espace San Bernardo ski area.
The road through the Alps has been known since ancient times. It was here that during the Punic Wars, in 218 BC. e. Hannibal's fighting African elephants stormed the mountains, getting from the territory of modern France to Italy. And already in the X century. n. e. Catholic saint Bernard de Menthon founded a shelter for travelers making their way through the Alps on a dangerous mountain pass. The monks provided travelers with food and shelter, and a special breed of dog, named after the saint, the St. Bernards, rescued those in distress in bad weather, looking for them even under the snow. Saint Bernard began to be considered the patron saint of travelers, climbers and skiers. The ski area is now named after him, uniting the slopes on two sides of the pass - in France and in Italy.
