Megeve is one of the most prestigious and picturesque ski resorts in the world. The history of this resort begins at the beginning of the 20th century. - even then it became a popular center for winter recreation. A modest alpine village has gradually turned into a highly developed tourist and sports center, without losing its charm. The inhabitants of Megeve cherish and support its rich cultural traditions. Classical music concerts are regularly held here, various art exhibitions and events are organized. The town has many interesting museums and architectural monuments.
At the service of skiers vacationing in Megeve, three large ski areas: Mont d'Arbois Rochebrune-Cote Le Jay
All together it is 300 km of trails and walking tours. Rochebrune-Cote is connected to the center of Megève by a cable car with cabins, and to the Mont-d'Arbois massif by a pendulum road. At a distance of less than one kilometer, connected to Rochebrune by ski bus, is the massif of Les Jails. Le Jai stretches southwest along the Cristomet massif, known as a place for skiing and off-piste skiing. Here the skier has great opportunities for walks from La Cree to Combloux, through forests and chalets in high mountain pastures... The cradle of skiing, Megève Rochebrune, offers long slopes through the forest and more difficult slopes in the Alpete region.
Megeve has all the conditions for winter sports. Excellent equipped slopes designed for all categories of skiers, developed tourist infrastructure, excellent system of lifts - all this, of course, is extremely attractive for ski lovers. And yet, at least half of all tourists come here not for sports at all, but for thoughtful, cultural pastime. Cozy, quiet streets, cobbled with stone, as in the old days, ancient stone buildings, antique shops and elegant shops create a very special atmosphere that serves as a great addition to the amazing alpine landscapes and wonderful skiing.
